WiiM Pro Plus Review: The WiiM Pro With an AKM DAC, a Better Line Input, and a Remote
The WiiM Pro Plus is the WiiM Pro to buy if you use its analog output. Over optical or coax, the cheaper Pro does the same job.
- AKM AK4493SEQ DAC with 120 dB SNR and 0.00032% THD+N published, against 102 dB and 0.009% on the WiiM Pro
- Same AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Roon Ready, RoomFit, and parametric EQ as the Pro, plus a voice remote in the box
- Performs the same as the cheaper WiiM Pro if you only use the optical or coaxial output
- No subwoofer output or 12V trigger, and Ethernet is still 10/100
WiiM Pro Plus overview
The WiiM Pro Plus has the same streaming features as the WiiM Pro: AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Roon Ready, and the WiiM Home app with RoomFit room correction. WiiM changed the DAC and the analog input and added a remote to the box. On October 15, 2026, Amazon listed it at $249 and the Pro at $169. What Hi-Fi reviewed it at $219.
The extra money buys better analog hardware, so it pays off if the streamer connects to your amp or powered speakers with RCA cables. If it feeds a receiver or DAC over optical or coax, the Pro does the same job for less.

The AKM DAC
The Pro Plus replaces the Pro's Burr-Brown PCM5121 with an AKM AK4493SEQ. On WiiM's published figures for the built-in DAC, SNR rises from 102 dB to 120 dB and THD+N falls from 0.009% to 0.00032%. The analog output measures cleaner, though how much of that you hear depends on your amp and speakers.
For a listening impression, What Hi-Fi described the Pro Plus's sound as detailed, expressive, and organised.
The line input
WiiM rates the Pro's analog input at 1 Vrms and 48 kHz/24-bit with a 91 dB SNR. That is adequate for a phone or Bluetooth receiver but weak for streaming a turntable (through a phono preamp) or a CD player to other WiiM rooms. The Plus accepts a 2 Vrms line-level source and samples it at up to 192 kHz/24-bit with a rated 106 dB SNR. If your record player reaches the rest of the house through this input, the input upgrade may matter more to you than the DAC.
The remote
The Pro Plus comes with WiiM's voice remote and an RCA cable. Pro owners have to buy the remote separately, so the real price difference is smaller than the list prices suggest.
Features shared with the WiiM Pro
The network hardware is identical: dual-band Wi-Fi 5, 10/100 Ethernet, and Bluetooth 5.1. Both are AirPlay 2 receivers, Google Cast targets, Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect endpoints, and Roon Ready. Both output bit-perfect audio over optical and coax at up to 192 kHz/24-bit, and both get RoomFit, the graphic EQ, and the parametric EQ in WiiM Home.
Neither has a subwoofer output or a 12V trigger. The Arylic LP20 has both, as does the more expensive WiiM Ultra.
Pros
- The AKM AK4493SEQ DAC has far better published SNR and distortion figures than the WiiM Pro's.
- The 2 Vrms, 192 kHz/24-bit line input suits turntables and CD players.
- The voice remote is included.
- Streaming support matches the Pro, with AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify and TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music casting, and Roon Ready.
- RoomFit and the 10-band parametric EQ are included.
Cons
- Over the digital outputs it performs the same as the cheaper Pro.
- What Hi-Fi called the build plasticky.
- There is no subwoofer output or 12V trigger, and Ethernet is 10/100.
- Like the Pro, it receives AirPlay but can't send it to other speakers.
Reasons to skip it
Over optical or coax, where the AKM chip sits unused, buy the WiiM Pro instead. If you need a sub out or a trigger, buy the Arylic LP20. For a Roon system built around a high-end USB DAC, the FiiO SR11 is designed as a transport for that job.
Good fit for
- systems where the streamer connects to an amp or powered speakers with RCA cables
- turntable or CD owners who want to stream that source to other WiiM rooms
- buyers who would add the WiiM remote to a Pro anyway
Used units appear on eBay; make sure the listing says Pro Plus. Arylic LP20 vs WiiM Pro covers the LP20's sub out and trigger, and the best music streamers compares the wider field.
Final verdict
Buy the WiiM Pro Plus if you will use its analog output. The AKM DAC and the 2 Vrms line input are real upgrades over the Pro, and the included remote narrows the price gap. If your streamer will feed a receiver or DAC digitally, the cheaper Pro performs the same.
